Toronto campaign organizers turn to social media to fight gun violence

A new campaign is taking a social media approach to addressing the growing problem of gun violence in the city.

Starting Thursday, a series of posters, short videos and public service announcements will start circulating on different platforms, discussing possible solutions and conflict-management techniques that can help curb the trend.

It’s part of the Just Think 1st initiative, a campaign reaching out to youth in different communities with the goal of helping them cope with social issues leading to the use of aggressive force.

“There’s a disproportionate amount of gun violence in some communities from Port Union to 427,” said Roderick Brereton, founder of Urban Rez Solutions, a Toronto-based anger and change-management consulting firm. Read full article here.
